Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Declaration of Conformity (DOC) and what is the difference between a DOC and a Certificate?
The certificate is issued by the notified body (IMCI). It states the product (prototype) is in accordance with the requirements of the Directive (94/25/EC as ammended by 2003/44/EC). The scope of the certificate depends on the selected module (link to directive).

The Declaration of Conformity (DOC) is issued by the manufacturer of the product. It states the individual product is in the same state as the prototype.

Every certified boat has to be accompanied by the DOC. Therefore the DOC includes the certificate number and the Craft Identification Number (CIN) of the boat.

Where do I get the Declaration of Conformity (DOC)?

The DOC must be filled in by the manufacture of the boat. As a manufacturer you will find blank forms in different European languages here. As owner of a boat please ask your manufacturer or dealer how to obtain the completed DOC belonging to your individual boat.

I bought a used boat somewhere outside the EU. What do I have to do?

Any non certified boat bought outside and brought into the EU has to be assessed within a PCA (Post Construction Assessment).
