New EN ISO standards now give Presumption of ConformityPlease be advised that the EU Commission has recently published Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2021/1407 amending the previous Implementing Decision (EU) 2019/919 which provides references of a lot of harmonised standards for fire-resistant and non-fire-resistant fuel hoses, seacocks and through-hull fittings, engine-mounted fuel, oil and electrical components on inboard diesel engines and steering wheels published in the OJEU for use under the Recreational Craft Directive 2013/53/EU.
All below standards give Presumption of Conformity as of 26 August 2021 already.
EN ISO 7840:2021 Small craft - Fire-resistant fuel hoses
The main changes compared to the previous edition are as follows:
- Requirements for low permeation fuel hoses have been added in chapter 6.8;
- Test fluids in chapter 6.2 for petrol have been clarified;
- The test set-up in Figure B.1 has been revised to remove the vented capillary tube.
The former standard EN ISO 7840:2013 will provide Presumption of Conformity only until 27 February 2023.
EN ISO 8469:2021 Small craft - Non-fire-resistant fuel hoses
The main changes compared to the previous edition are as follows:
- Requirements for low permeation fuel hoses have been added in chapter 6.8;
- Test fluids in chapter 6.2 for petrol have been clarified;
- The test set-up in Figure A.1 has been revised to remove the vented capillary tube.
The former standard EN ISO 8469:2013 will provide Presumption of Conformity only until 27 February 2023.
EN ISO 9093:2021 Small craft - Seacocks and through-hull fittings
The main changes compared to the 2 previous editions are as follows:
- The previous 2 parts have been combined into a single-part standard;
- The definition of corrosion resistance has been changed;
- An installed strength test has been added (Annex A);
- A test for corrosion resistance has been added (Annex B);
- A test for UV stabilisation has been added (Annex C).
The former standards EN ISO 90931-1:1994 and EN ISO 9093-2:2002 will provide Presumption of Conformity only until 27 February 2023.
EN ISO 16147:2021 Small craft - Inboard diesel engines - Engine-mounted fuel, oil and electrical components
The main changes compared to the previous edition are as follows:
- Clarification in the Scope that the length of hull is as defined in ISO 8666, and reference added in a new Bibliography;
- All references have been dated.
The former standards EN ISO 16147:2002/A1:2013 and EN ISO 16147:2017 will provide Presumption of Conformity only until 27 February 2023.
EN ISO 23411:2021 Small craft - Steering wheels
The new standard covers:
- The steering wheel requirements from ISO 8848:1990, ISO 9775:1990 and ISO 15652:2003 have been consolidated into this document;
- The requirements have been updated to meet current industry practices.
The former standards EN ISO 9775:2017 and EN ISO 15652:2017 will provide Presumption of Conformity only until 27 February 2023.
EN ISO 9775:2017 Small craft - Remote steering systems for single outboard motors of 15 kW to 40 kW power
The Harmonization of this standard will be withdrawn on 27 February 2023 and only the new EN ISO 23411:2021 will be used.
EN ISO 15652:2017 Small craft - Remote steering systems for inboard mini jet boats
The Harmonization of this standard will be withdrawn on 27 February 2023 and only the new EN ISO 23411:2021 will be used.

Be aware that according to Article 7, cl. 4 of the Directive 2013/53/EU it is the manufacturer’s obligation to use always the latest harmonised standard in order to achieve Presumption of Conformity.
