Inspector Roko Dejhalla is dead
This very sad and extremely surprising news has reached IMCI.Roko was a passionate sailor and naval architect. After graduating from the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Rijeka, Croatia, in 1999 with a doctorate in naval architecture, he spent several years in the shipbuilding industry. In 2000, he returned to his alma mater and was appointed full professor by the university in 2008.
He has been involved in several scientific and research projects of the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports of the Republic of Croatia (MZOS) and the Croatian Science Foundation (HRZZ), as well as in Interreg Italy-Croatia. He was the author or co-author of more than 40 scientific and technical papers on ship hydrodynamics and a participant in numerous national and international conferences on shipbuilding and marine hydrodynamics.
Now he leaves a big gap at the university, both with his colleagues and his students.
Uli Heinmann, IMCI CEO says: "Since July 2003, Prof. Dr. sc. Roko Dejhalla also has given IMCI a great deal of competent help and support as an inspector until his last day. He contributed to the ‘lifeline’ of IMCI for more than 20 years and was highly valued by both Croatian clients and international IMCI directors and inspectors for his knowledge and modest manner".
He was a member of the Croatian Boating Industry Association (CBIA) and represented it at the Technical Committee of the International Council of Marine Industry Associations (ICOMIA).
As a representative of the Croatian Standards Institute, he worked on the ISO standards of ISO TC 188, which serve as the technical basis for CE certification in our economic sector.
His passing is a great loss for IMCI as a whole and for the Croatian boatbuilding industry in particular, and he will remain deeply in our memories. At only 61 years old, it was much too early for him to leave his family and our IMCI community. Our condolences go out to his loved ones.
