Although the ISO 12217 series standards (Small craft - Stability and buoyancy assessment and categorization) have been published by ISO in Geneva (CH) for a while already they were now published in the EU Official Journal (OJ C 014 dated 2016-01-15) and came by that under the regime of the RCD 94/25/EC.
- The ISO 12217:2013 series standards giving presumption of conformity until end of May 2016 only.
- The ISO 12217:2015 series standards can be used in parallel to the 2013 version from now on.
- The ISO 12217:2015 series standards will be only stability standards giving presumption of conformity from end of May this year on.
ISO 12217:2015 series come with the modifications as shown below.
ISO 12217:2015 - Part 1:
- Introduction: the reference to the European Directive has been updated (2013/53/EU);
- Clause 1, 6.1.1.6 letter d) 3), 6.6 and Worksheet 9 of Annex J: “vulnerable” has been replaced with “susceptible”;
- Clause 2: ISO 6185 4:2011 has been added;
- Clause 3: entries 3.1.1, 3.4.3, 3.4.5, 3.4.6 and 3.5.9 have been amended;
- Subclause 6.1.2.2, letter c): option 6 has been included;
- Subclauses 6.3.2 and 6.4.1: the formulae have been harmonised;
- Subclauses 6.5.2.3 and 6.5.2.4: formulae coefficients have been corrected;
- Subclause 7.2: the text and Table 6 have been amended;
- Clause F.4: Table F.5 has been amended, subclause F.4.4 has been added;
- Annex J: worksheets 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 12 have been corrected to align with corrections listed above;
- Annex K has been added;
- Bibliography: reference to ISO 7010 has been added;
- Editorial and cross-referencing corrections have been made to Table 2, subclauses 6.5.1, 6.5.2.2 and 6.5.2.3, and worksheets 4 and 8 of Annex J
ISO 12217:2015 - Part 2:
- Introduction: the reference to the European Directive has been updated (2013/53/EU);
- Clause 1, 6.2.1.6 d) 3), 7.6, 7.11, 7.12, 7.13, Annex I, Table I.2, and Annex J, Worksheets 2, 12, 14 and 16: vulnerable has been replaced with susceptible;
- Clause 3: definitions 3.1.1, 3.5.5, 3.5.6 and 3.6.11 have been amended;
- Subclause 6.3.1: second item in the list has been inserted;
- Subclauses 6.3.2.3 and 6.3.2.4: formulae coefficients have been corrected;
- Subclause 6.6.2: exponent ‘0,3’ has been deleted;
- Subclause 6.6.7: symbols have been corrected;
- Subclause 6.6.8: a note has been added to explain the phrase "fully flooded with water";
- Clause 9.2: the text and Table 11 have been amended;
- Subclause H.3.2 c): the coefficient in the formula has been corrected;
- Annex J: worksheets 1, 2, 5, 7, 12 and 16 have been corrected to align with corrections listed above;
- Annex K has been added;
- Bibliography: reference to ISO 7010 has been added;
- Editorial and cross-referencing corrections have been made to Table 1, Annex J, worksheets 1, 5, 7, 12, 14 and 16, and to subclauses 6.3.1, 6.3.2.2 and 6.3.2.3.
ISO 12217:2015 - Part 3:
- Introduction and Clause 9.2: the reference to the European Directive has been updated (2013/53/EU);
- Clause 1, subclauses 6.2, 6.3.1.5 d) 3) and F.2 g): vulnerable has been replaced with susceptible.
- Clause 3: definitions 3.1.1, 3.3.5 and 3.4.9 have been amended;
- Subclause 6.3.2.2 c): option 5 has been included;
- Subclauses 6.4.2.3 and 6.4.2.4: the formulae coefficients have been corrected;
- Subclauses 6.5.2.5 and 6.5.3.3 e) 2) and Table G.1 have been slightly amended to remove inconsistencies.
- Subclause 6.6.1 and Table G.1: the formulae have been harmonised with ISO 12217 1;
- Subclause 7.5.1 b) has been aligned with the text in ISO 12217-2.
- Subclause 9.2: the text has been amended;
- Annex H: worksheets 2, 4, 6, 8 and 15 have been corrected to align with corrections listed above;
- Annex I has been added;
- Bibliography: reference to ISO 7010 has been added;
- Editorial and cross-referencing corrections have been made to definitions 3.2.2 and 3.2.3 and to subclauses, 6.4.1, 6.4.2.1, 6.4.2.2 and 6.4.2.3, to Table G.2, and to Annex H, worksheet 6.
IMCI strongly recommends to all manufacturers to check their craft being certified already on compliance with the 2015 set of the stability standards.
