The industry is a significant contributor to the European economy, representing 32,000 companies that employ over 280,000 people directly. The vast majority of the sector is made up of Small- and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs). EBI is an established stakeholder at EU level, defending and promoting the interests of its members on key issues ranging from Single Market legislation to blue growth, tourism and trade policy. It is a key contributor to tourism and has a global trade perspective.
The members of European Boating Industry (EBI) virtually met for the second yearly General Assembly on 9th September in Brussels. After the General Assembly, EBI President Jean-Pierre Goudant commented “We have set the course for EBI to further grow the influence of the recreational boating industry at EU level. The clear positioning that we now have is a crucial element of this endeavour. Welcoming IMCI as new sustaining member broadens our network and will enrich our discussions. Together this further strengthens our voice at EU level, and we are delighted that they have joined EBI.”
On being accepted as sustaining member of EBI, Ulrich Heinemann, Managing Director of IMCI said “IMCI is very happy to be on board of EBI and very willing to contribute to the activities of the association, especially regarding technical matters.”
